Oh My! I’ve been in and out of town….preparing for gallery shows, preparing for fiber trade shows, preparing for studio visitors…..a summer whirlwind of wool and colour….
But now I’m back….and not going to any more (far away) shows until late September, so I can settle in to an island summer, regular studio hours and some felt play….
I’m starting work on a new interior design line this weekend (very exciting!) and need to get a few staples made for the studio shop before immersing in that direction…
…..and now fulled completely and ready for dyeing….That’s the bag resist below the bag. I felted metal rings into the body as a closure and to attach the handles. I like this finish…it’s very clean and simple and I like that it is integral to the felt. What colours shall they become? Better warm up the dyepots and let inspiration strike….I’m feeling a strong draw to vermillion and coral orange these days….I’ll post the finished results tomorrow (when I’m also having a special studio visitor-and maybe some dyeing together!)…
Happy Summer Days!
Warm wishes,
Fiona
Fiona–What a fantastic bag design…how clever of you to felt the 'hardware' right into the piece! I love how you start with white each time and transform your work with color later. One day, I hope to take a class with you and learn more about your method! XXO-
Thanks Heather! I'm so pleased with how it worked out attaching the rings during felting…this is the process I'm going to use now on all my bags…it works so well…It's funny (and what is wonderful about craft!) how you and I approach things differently! I was just reading on your blog about having the plain white bag and figuring out what to do with it! That is what is perfect about being able to share our experiences out here, don't you think! We can love our diversity…..Hope to meet up with you sometime soon! xo Fiona
