I invite you join me in creating a daily fibre sketch through the month of February!
I love making these as a creative warm up exercise, before starting in on my felt work for the day. It’s excellent for loosening up and getting inspired.
Daily Fibre Sketches are quick to do and an excellent creative exercise!
We use these like an artist sketchbook, to explore colour composition, in ratios and relationships; an open-ended exploration without the commitment of continuing on through the felting process, and integrating these fibres permanently. We are exploring ideas, lightly, temporarily and more creatively, working with small amounts of wool roving or prefelt blocks and shapes. These images can be adjusted, added to, or changed completely.
You can approach these completely intuitively and see where your colour selections for the day take you, or work with specific colours to see what contrasts work best for you and in what ratio. Or you can follow along with my prompts to construct your own unique colour tableaus. With any approach, take some time then to observe the combinations and note what you love and use that reflection in a new felt work sometime this year! A creative starter!
