Felt Jewelry Online Workshop: Materials List
This list gives you a good indication of what you will need for this class, in particular the base materials. There is flexibility in the list- some items can be substituted, and the more you experiment, the more opportunity we have for discussion during the class.
In felt jewelry we can work with all sorts of inclusions and found objects….keep your eyes open for beautiful beads, buttons, shells, seaglass….be a magpie and collect shiny treasures to make your felt jewelry individual! You’ll get more ideas and inspiration for possible inclusions as the class time goes on and students share their pieces.
As long as you have wool, and some beads or buttons and sewing thread and needle, you’ll be able to make a some wonderful, interesting jewelry pieces in this class! Please do email me if you have any questions!
Fibres and materials:
4 ounces/114 grams total extra fine merino wool roving. Choose one colour or several. This wool will be used to create the base for all of your jewelry projects.
The amount of wool you need will depend on how many pieces you choose to make. 4 ounces ( 114 grams) will give you enough wool to make one sample from each of the techniques.
Small amounts of contrasting coloured extra fine merino wool for accents.
3 yards (3m) black elastic cord- this is thin shirring elastic. Like THIS.
Embellishment materials: 3-6 Dyed Silk Cocoons and/or your own assorted found and shiny objects
9-12 yrds (9-12m) Silk Embroidery Ribbon .157 inch (4mm) wide, or any ribbon in a similar width.
