You can fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Victoria International Airport (YYJ).
It is easiest to fly into Victoria (YYJ), then take a taxi to the Swartz Bay Ferry terminal (15 minutes/about $20), and take the ferry to Fulford Harbour (35 minutes/$12) on Salt Spring Island.
If you arrive at Vancouver (YVR), you can get to Salt Spring Island by ferry or by float plane.
By Ferry:
If arriving to Vancouver International Airport, Translink (Vancouver Transit) easily connects YVR to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. You take the skytrain to Bridgeport Station and from there transfer to the 620 bus that takes you to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. (1 hour travel time/Compass Card- 1 zone $5).
A taxi or ride share is more convenient with luggage (35-45 minutes/$60-80)
There are two ferry options:
Tsawwassen to Salt Spring Island, arriving at the Long Harbour Terminal.
Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay, and then transfer to the Fulford Harbour Ferry.
By Seaplane:
This is a beautiful way to arrive on Salt Spring Island! The only catch is that there are strict baggage restrictions which could be an issue to be able to carry your materials for your workshops.
There are flights from near Vancouver Airport, and from downtown Vancouver. Flights arrive right in our main town of Ganges. (15-20minutes/$100-180):
