The materials list for this can be found HERE. This class works mainly with wool prefelt and basic felting tools- all easy to acquire and/or make!
There are so many exciting surfaces we can create by manipulating prefelt.
We’ll look at five of them, incorporating them into a highly textured, cylindrical vessel.
I’ve been wanting to explore these surface manipulations for over a decade, and finally, they found the right time and place to come to life! I’m really excited to share these easy-to-create textures. These surface textures require no resists and no sewing, only knots and folds, some very sharp and crisp and others more fluid and organic. They work together beautifully with a great range of dimensions and unity created through the simple palette. This palette emphasizes the textures and shadows they create.
This workshop is 17 days long, plus one week before the actual workshop starts for introductions and a discussion around the materials we’ll be using.
I want this to be a fun, immersive experience for you! I’ve spaced out the steps so you won’t feel rushed and can enjoy the process.
The project takes between 8-12 hours from absolute start to finish. At any time, you can set your work aside and come back to it when you have time available. There will be clear possible pause points, which do allow you to fit this project in between life happening! But you can also choose to work through it from start to finish, over two days.
I answer questions and give comments throughout the entire course in the online classroom, allowing all participating students to learn through one another’s projects.
This class material is presented through videos, downloadable PDF, with clear text and lots of images, plus online classroom pages. There is no live aspect to this class. You can access the materials at any time, from any time zone and work at a pace that best suits you!
