Dimensional felting involves using resists to create seamless hollow forms, in any shape you desire. This technique is commonly used to make vessels, slippers, hats, clothing, sculptural works as well as one of our favourites – bags! Beautiful, unique, and durable. A bag can be created in any size or shape and is a great canvas for experimenting with new surface techniques. We will cover resist making, measuring, shaping, shaping and finishing, all while making your own personalized, functional art.
This is an intermediate level class-for those with some feltmaking experience. If you are a beginning feltmaker, work through the Introduction to Flat Feltmaking tutorial to help you prepare for this workshop.
The class is delivered in one module. This material will be available in the online classroom, along with support videos and a downloadable PDF with lots of pictures and informative text. I will be answering questions and giving comments throughout the course in the online classroom, allowing all participating students to learn through one another’s projects. This course is open for you to work at your pace, and start the course at any time you wish during this session.
Students can expect to take 8-12 hours to work through all the class materials including making a sample and a finished bag.
